Jun and Joyce are both college graduates who were on their way to professional careers when God redirected them. They both now serve faithfully as full time missionaries in the city Jails in the Manila area - Mandaluyong, Manila City etc as well as Brother Jun pastoring the church within the New Bilibid Prison - maximum security.
Brother Jun has asked for prayer for Joyce as she has had some major Asthma attacks in the last day or so. She has been hospitalized and hasnt responded well to medication. They had a very close call yesterday. Brother Jun is confident in the Lord's hand on her and so I ask that we all pray expactantly for this dear sister.
They have become dear friends. Below is a pic of their beatuful baby Betsy. Their testimony and their service have been very influencial in my life.
Pastor Paul Perkins was out of town the first couple days I landed in Manila for the first time and so it was brother Jun that first took me to the jails to preach. It was clear that the inmates have a respect and relationship with this young missionary. They are zealous for the Lord Jesus Christ. Sister Joyce ministers faithfully multiple days a week with the ladies and children in the city jails.
I remember hearing how eager she was to get back to the jails after the baby was born. Because of sickness, sanitation etc (the jails are not pleasant) the doctor recommended giving it some time. Jun had all he could handle in keeping his wife from ministering there. It was refreshing to hear of the burden and devotion of this sister. She has a degree in law and yet laid that aside so that she could use the law of God to bring prisoners to Christ, Praise the Lord!
Brother Jun's life verse is
Psa 79:11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
Join me in lifting up this missionary family.
