Psa 71:17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Psa 71:18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
The Lord opened the door for me to go to a dear friends church in Mississippi at the end of October. I have many testimonies I could share of what God has done and is doing there.
One of the highlights of this trip was a man names Bro. Linwood. This man is about 70 or maybe older and yet he was right alongside the young men and women of the church on Satruday morning as a good portion of the membership of the church came out for prayer, soul winning and bus visitation.
Do I have to tell you that God knows what He is doing?
God brought brother Linwood to another man - named Jim who was working on his car. Jim is 78 years old and was lost as could be. God used brother Linwood to show this man the brevity of both of their lives at thier age and that thier was one important difference between them - the eternal destination of their soul. The Holy Spirit convicted that man and he he repented and trusted Christ right there in that parking lot.
Psa 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 136:2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 136:3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
I was encouraged in many ways by this event
1) God's sovereignty in bringing Bro. Linwood to Jim that morning
2) Bro. Linwoods desire to be used of God and continue to spread the gospel in his advanced age (hence the text above)
3) That an invitation to church showing up in the mailbox wasnt going to get that man to church - he was old, resistant... and had a broken car, amen?!
4) God's longsuffering and mercy on this man who probably had heard the gospel many times in his life but had resisted to that point
Praise the Lord for another brother in Christ, pray for Brother Jim to get in church, grow spiritually and get out there witnessing with Brother Linwood.
